Academic Plan

UNC的拉st traditional campus-wide 计划ning process wrapped up in 2007 with the completion of the Academic Plan, which envisioned UNC as an exemplary teaching 和 learning community.

2010

战略 Framework

In 2010, in an effort to provide a common foundation for a number of operational 计划s, we created the Strategic Framework. It identified 这些 action areas for fulfilling the vision of the Academic Plan: 

  1. 服务 students 和 build exemplary academic programs to fulfill UNC’s mission in sustainable ways; 
  2. Enhance UNC’s research focus to engage our faculty 和 students 和 the public we serve; 和  
  3. Create a respectful 和 inclusive campus community that connects with the area around the University 和 the global community.

 2012

Planning Map

Following the creation of the 战略 Framework, we convened several working groups to develop operational 计划s (e.g., community 和 civic engagement, equity 和 diversity, research, scholarship 和 creative works). The Planning Map was created in 2012 to show how various 计划s were related.

2014

五个-year Fiscal Sustainability Plan 

五个 targets for achieving fiscal sustainability with limited state support. 

In 2014, facing declining enrollment 和 limited state funding, we developed the 五个-Year Fiscal Sustainability Plan. Though it soon became our primary focus, it was not intended to sup计划t the numerous operational 计划s on the Planning Map. The 计划 set multiyear targets to address three areas: 

  1. Recruiting a broader mix of students; 
  2. Improving persistence to graduation; 和  
  3. Changing operational practices to be more effective 和 more efficient. 结果是 detailed in the next section.

2018

行动-oriented recommendations on academic portfolio, student success 和 student affairs 

In the fall of 2018, we convened three task forces to address the academic portfolio, student success 和 student affairs. Over 170 students, staff 和 faculty served on the task forces 和 numerous subcommittees. They made recommendations on specific strategies to improve student outcomes, reduce equity gaps, realign student affairs functions to better serve students, 和 strengthen, exp和, or phase out programs 和 services. Some of 这些 recommendations were incorporated into the 战略 Enrollment 和 Student Success 计划.

战略 Enrollment & Student Success

战略 imperatives for student success 和 enrollment growth 

The 战略 Enrollment 和 Student Success (SESS) 计划 developed in the spring of 2019 和 now being implemented is a critical foundation for the 2019-20 计划ning process. No matter how we envision our future, the SESS 计划’s strategic imperatives—aligned admissions efforts, community college transfer partnerships, integrated student support, 和 targeted coaching—will remain essential.
