Mathematical Sciences has two mathematics teacher preparation programs preparing students to teach mathematics at the secondary (grades 7-12) or middle school (grades 6-8) 水平.
研究生s of our programs will be qualified for licensure to teach mathematics in 科罗拉多州. Our programs have an intentional focus on preparing graduates to implement technology and language support strategies in meaningful ways to support the development of content understanding and language use. For students interested in adding the Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) Education endorsement, we have degree plans supporting the added endorsement.
Mathematics teaching is a profession that is always in demand 与 great job security. Teachers are in a role that allows for daily problem solving, exploration, research, 和发展. The teaching emphasis programs provide students 与 a blend of academic and teaching experiences so they develop the content and pedagogical knowledge they will need in their future classrooms. These experiences include placements in local classrooms w在这里 students build relationships 与 students, develop and implement lessons, and learn other skills necessary to be effective teachers.

Slides from Large Group Advising Meeting (2024年春季)
Mandatory large group advising sessions for ALL students in the Middle School and Secondary Mathematics 老师准备aration 项目 occurred in February. 如果你是 not able to attend a meeting, please schedule a meeting 与 a peer mentor.
You will need to meet 与 your advisor to get your PIN 之前 registration begins 4月.

One of the resources available for support at the University of Northern 科罗拉多州 是同侪导师. The 同伴导师 are a resource for students in a mathematics 教育项目. They support students in these programs by holding mentoring hours w在这里 students can ask questions pertaining to the programs, courses in general, and/or study for the Praxis Test.

Praxis Preparation Resources
All Middle School and Secondary Mathematics Teaching Program students must take the 在3月1日前练习 之前 the semester they plan to take STEP 363. You must pass the relevant Praxis test 之前 学生教学. - Middle School Emphasis Students: Take test 5164 (minimum score to pass 157)
- Secondary Emphasis Students: Take test 5165 (minimum score to pass 159)
Praxis Prep Sessions: Tuesdays 3:30pm-4:30pm; Thursdays 11:00am-12:00pm (Ross Hall 2230 G)
